PEN Ukraine is a cultural and human rights organization that brings together Ukrainian writers, journalists, scholars, and other cultural figures. The organization actively supports Ukrainian literature and culture, especially during wartime.

One of PEN Ukraine’s most significant projects is the poetry anthology “Between the Sirens,” which stands as a powerful testament to the full-scale war. The anthology’s title comes from a poem by Victoria Amelina, a gifted writer tragically killed in a Russian missile strike. Ostap Slyvynsky, the poet and curator of the project, notes in the foreword: “I would like these poems to serve as testimony and evidence of the guilt of the criminals who set out to destroy my country. Yes, poetry can do even this.”

The anthology “Between the Sirens” features poems that have become a form of nonviolent resistance in wartime. For the poetry installation within the “Unseen Force” exhibition, curator Ostap Slyvynsky selected works by Victoria Amelina, Halyna Kruk, Iryna Vikyrchak, Marianna Kiyanovska, and himself.

PEN Ukraine continues its vital mission, documenting crimes against Ukrainian culture, supporting artists, and promoting Ukrainian literature worldwide.
