An artist and designer born in Donetsk. He graduated from the Donetsk Art College and the Sloviansk Institute of Business and Law.

In 2014, during the occupation of Donetsk, Zakharov founded the Myrzilka Art Group—a street art project aimed at resisting the occupiers. The group placed satirical depictions of DNR militants, including Girkin-Strelkov and Motorola, in public spaces throughout the city. For this activity, Zakharov was arrested and spent a month and a half in captivity.

After his release, Zakharov created the graphic novel “The Hole”, where he recounted his experiences of captivity and the occupation of Donetsk. The book was published in Ukrainian in 2016.

For the UNSEEN FORCE exhibition, Serhii Zakharov produced two new works. The painting “Whatever You Paint, You Paint Ukraine” reflects the constant presence of Ukraine in the creative expressions of artists during the war. “The Dove of Peace” offers an ironic reinterpretation of the peace symbol in the context of Russian aggression, highlighting the absurdity of the aggressor’s claims of peaceful intentions and coercion into so-called peaceful dialogue.

Zakharov’s graphic works and Myrzilka figures have been generously loaned for exhibition by the Museum of War (Kyiv).
