Ukrainians are not alone in this resistance. Solidarity both within and towards occupied populations is multi-layered and compounding. A simple act of resistance can resonate far beyond its immediate vicinity.

The activists find mutual reassurance and motivation upon seeing each other’s ribbons, graffiti, and posters disrupt Russian propaganda. Similarly, demonstrations of support to those activists from Ukrainians outside the occupied territories as well as the international community spur on the Resistance.

Historically, non-violent resistance has been a successful tactic for challenging oppressive regimes and enacting change. Examples include Mahatma Gandhi’s Salt March in India in 1930, the civil rights movement led by Martin Luther King Jr. in the US, and the Maidan protests in 2014. There are many such success stories.

Show your support for Ukraine’s non-violent resistance by carrying out your own act of defiance. Take a sticker, make a temporary tattoo, or draw one of the symbols of resistance. Place it near or at the Russian consulate or embassy, or any recognizable place, snap a photo, and send it to our Instagram account using the hashtags: #UnseenForce, #AngryMavka.

These small expressions of support turn solidarity into something more than the simple sum of its parts.

As of March 17, 2025, we have received photos of support from 57 countries.
